This illustration depicts a Class III biological safety cabinet (BSC), a gas-tight enclosure designed to provide maximum protection for both the worker and the work. At left is the cabinet used for laboratory procedures, featuring attached gloves that allow manipulation of materials within a sealed environment under negative pressure. Air entering and exiting the cabinet is passed through high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters. At right is a cross-sectional view illustrating the controlled airflow and filtration pathways within the system.
