This illustration depicts a vertical laminar flow cabinet (tissue culture hood), designed to protect the work from contamination through HEPA-filtered, unidirectional airflow. Air is drawn into the unit, passed through a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter, and directed downward over the work surface before exiting into the laboratory environment. At right is a cross-sectional view illustrating the airflow pathway within the cabinet.
