This illustration depicts a supplied-air laboratory fume hood, designed to protect the worker from hazardous fumes. The enclosure operates under negative pressure, drawing air inward through the sash opening while introducing conditioned supply air to maintain airflow balance, and exhausting it through a ventilation system above the hood. At right is a cross-sectional view illustrating the airflow pathway within the hood, including the supplied-air bypass system.
