This photograph, captured in 1960, depicts an Award of Meritorious Participation presented to the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Communicable Disease Center (CDC) in recognition of its contribution to the San Francisco International Film Festival’s program, “Recognition of Leprosy.” The award bears the signatures of Harold Zellerbach, President of the Art Commission of the City and County of San Francisco; Irving M. Levin, Executive Director of the San Francisco International Film Festival; and George Christopher, Mayor of San Francisco, California.
