This historic 1961 group portrait was captured on the campus of Emory University in metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. The group was attending a Business Service Support (BSS) management seminar and was composed of Communicable Disease Center (CDC) officials, including, from left to right in the front row, former Medical Director and Chief of the Laboratory Branch Dr. Ralph B. Hogan; former CDC Chief of the Technology Branch Dr. S. W. Simmons; former CDC Director Robert J. Anderson, MD, MPH; former Chief Epidemiologist Alexander D. Langmuir, MD, MPH; Dr. Donald S. Martin; and former Chief of the Venereal Disease Branch Dr. William J. Brown. Standing in the back row, from left to right, were former Executive Officer George B.
