This image shows the instructor and attendees of a Communicable Disease Center (CDC) training course titled, “Course #856 – Bacteriophage Typing of Staphylococci.” The principal instructor was bacteriologist Elaine L. Updyke, ScD, of the Diagnostic Reagents Unit, Laboratory Branch, who is standing in the back row, fourth from the left. The course was conducted from December 1 through December 5, 1958.
