Captured in 1978, this historic photograph shows medical technologist Dan Huff, MT(ASCP) (Medical Technologist, American Society for Clinical Pathology), working inside the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Outpatient Clinic. Mr. Huff is seated before the laboratory's Coulter Counter, an electronic instrument that automatically counts and measures the size of microscopic particles, such as blood cells, by detecting changes in electrical resistance as they pass through a small aperture.
