Caption:
This historic photograph was captured during the necropsy of an unspecified animal and shows the hands of a laboratory technician using forceps and scissors to collect a section of brain tissue for rabies testing. One of the pathognomonic histopathologic findings of rabies is the presence of Negri bodies, intracytoplasmic eosinophilic inclusion bodies that contain rabies virus ribonucleoprotein.
