Captured in April 1957, this historic photograph shows Communicable Disease Center (CDC) virologist Seymour S. Kalter, PhD, who served as Chief of the Diagnostic Methodology Unit, Virus and Rickettsia Section, Laboratory Branch. Here, Dr. Kalter was examining the contents of three test tubes used in a complement fixation test. The activity took place at the Cumberland Field Station in Montgomery, Alabama.
