Captured in 1978, this historic photograph shows Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer Andrew M. Wiesenthal, MD, SM, a member of the EIS Class of 1978. Following his EIS service, Dr. Wiesenthal completed a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases and continued his career with the Colorado Permanente Medical Group and Kaiser Permanente, where he held leadership positions in healthcare quality, medical management, and health information technology, including the development and implementation of electronic health record systems.
