Captured on March 13, 1963, this historic photograph shows a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) laboratory technician counting arbovirus plaques in a duck embryo tissue culture bottle. This procedure was one step in the isolation and identification of arboviruses. This laboratorian was a member of the CDC’s Virology Section, Arbovirus Laboratory Unit.
