Captured in 1978, this historic photograph shows Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer Eugene S. Hurwitz, MD, a member of the EIS Class of 1978. Following his EIS service, Dr. Hurwitz continued his career at CDC, conducting epidemiologic research involving viral diseases, vaccine safety, Reye syndrome, and childhood immunization. He later specialized in allergy and immunology while continuing his involvement in infectious disease and vaccine research.
