Created in 1975 and entitled, “Management of Lassa Virus Infection”, this historical graphic outlines methods used at the time to manage patients with Lassa virus infection. These included isolation; supportive measures such as bed rest, antipyretics, analgesics, antiemetics, and replacement of fluid losses; monitoring of vital functions, including blood and pulse pressure, fluid intake and output, central venous pressure, hematocrit, urine specific gravity, electrolytes, blood gases, and creatinine; treatment of complications such as shock, respiratory distress, and acidosis; and transfusion of immune plasma.
