This historic photograph, captured on March 16, 1964, documents a water main rupture at the Communicable Disease Center (CDC) headquarters campus on Clifton Road in Atlanta, Georgia. Water can be seen flowing rapidly through the excavated construction area from the damaged subterranean water line. Construction personnel and other officials gathered at the site to assess the rupture, while excavation equipment and sections of pipe are visible nearby.
