This historic photograph, captured on March 16, 1964, documents the aftermath of a water main rupture at the Communicable Disease Center (CDC) headquarters campus on Clifton Road in Atlanta, Georgia (see PHIL 32159). The photograph shows a large containment pit filled with water from the ruptured line, which helped confine the escaping water to a controlled area while personnel assessed and addressed the incident.
