This historic photograph, captured on July 1, 1964, provides a southwestward view of construction underway at the Communicable Disease Center (CDC) headquarters campus on Clifton Road in Atlanta, Georgia. The northeast corner of Building 5 is visible in the background, while construction of Additions D and E is underway in the foreground. Workers, excavation equipment, concrete formwork, and construction materials document an early stage in the development of the new animal containment and laboratory facilities.
