This image depicts an anterior view of a patient’s exposed dentition, revealing a condition known as gingivitis, or an inflammation of the gums. You are able to see the marginal redness and hypertrophy of the gingivae. You are also able to see the noticeable plaque buildup on the base of the upper, lower teeth along the gum margin, contributing to the gingival inflammation, and associated periodontal disease.
