This image depicts a close view of a female patient’s perineum, which exhibited symptoms of a condition that was diagnosed as kraurosis vulvae, now referred to as lichen sclerosus. This is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis characterized by the formation of white plaques in the region of the vulva, and may be a precancerous condition, predisposing the patient to the subsequent development of squamous cell carcinoma.
