This 2001 image depicts Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer, Robert Newman (Cntr), as he was giving a demonstration in Burkina Faso, as to the proper process of creating a malarial blood film from placental tissues. Present were members of the study team of the Burkina Faso Ministry of Health, who had gathered in order to carry out the "Rapid Assessment of Malaria in Pregnancy" project.
