This photomicrograph reveals some of the histopathology of a section of intestinal tissue in a case of cryptosporidiosis. The specimen had been plastic-embedded, and histochemically-treated with toluidine blue-stain. The section shows numerous Cryptosporidium sp. parasitic organisms lining the luminal surface of the epithelial cells.
