This 1981 aerial photograph was captured, during a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) investigation of the 1980, Mount St. Helens eruption. The CDC funded, and assisted in a series of studies on the health effects of the Mount St. Helens volcanic eruption, which included the consequences of volcanic dust inhalation.
