This photograph depicts a dorsal view of two brown dog ticks, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, which has been implicated in the spread of Q Fever. R. sanguineus displays a festooned posterior abdominal margin, and a hexagonally shaped basis capituli. It is one of the most widely distributed ticks in the world, often found on dogs in the United States.
