Caption:
This image depicts a close intraoral view of a HIV/AIDS-positive patient, who had presented with a chronic secondary opportunistic oral candidiasis infection. The immune systems in suffers with HIV undergoes a dramatic reduction in its effectiveness, resulting in the greater possibility of secondary infections, as in this example, where the intraoral Candida sp. organisms were no longer kept in check.
