This historic 1919 photograph revealed a sewer outlet that drained its contents into the Mississippi River that had originated from Minneapolis, Minnesota. This was one of a series of instructional images used by the Minnesota Board of Health to train its public health workers. The purpose of the images and the associated training was focused on protecting public water supplies from bacterial contamination. The description also stated that the image was labeled as File plate no. 110-B.
