Caption:
This historic 1936 photograph, depicted Sucker Creek, at the location of its first bridge, above Minnesota’s Cokato Lake. Its purpose was to show the effects of industrial pollution on bodies of freshwater, and upon the native fish and wildlife. As one of a series of instructional images, used by the Minnesota Board of Health to train its state public health workers, the purpose of the photographs, and the accompanying training, was focused on protecting water supplies from toxic contamination due to the discharge of industrial pollution.
