This 1947 historical photograph was provided by the Center for Disease Control's (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and depicted a crop-dusting biplane dispersing pesticide spray over an unidentified farm crop. This image had been retouched for publication, in order to emphasize the spray plume. Knowledge acquired about these scenarios helped to create rules and regulations making workplace environments healthier, and safer for long-term workers.
