Caption:
A residential area of government trailer homes near Raleigh, North Carolina. A woman hangs laundry on a clothesline in a strong wind. Wood boardwalks, set on the sandy soil, form walkways between the trailers. Electrical lines run to the trailers. A trailer with a visible “FSA” identification number is in the background. Original documentation indicates that this was a “Work Camp” and was photographed by the U. S. Public Health Service in its portrayal of American living and working conditions.
