Caption:
A residential area of government trailer homes near Raleigh, North Carolina. A woman hangs laundry on a clothesline in strong wind. Wooden boardwalks, set on the sandy soil, make the walkways between the trailers, and overhead lines run electricity to them. Many construction cranes are in the horizon. “FSA” identification numbers, stenciled on the trailers, are visible in several related photographs. Original documentation indicates that this was a “Work Camp” and was photographed by the U. S. Public Health Service in its portrayal of American living and working conditions.
