This 1962 image depicted the torso and lower face of a 1-year-old female patient who had contracted smallpox in Cardiff, Wales during an epidemic. These benign confluent variola lesions, were shown here on day-2, post-eruption, beginning in the perineal region at the site of a diaper rash, and at which location were most numerous, (see PHIL 10408).
