This historic 1963 photograph depicted laboratorian, Shirin Floyd, as she was preparing to perform an immunoelectrophoresis study. Modern day protocols now call for the laboratorian executing such tasks, to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety goggles, gloves, and a facemask.
