Caption:
This young man was bitten on the face by a recluse, Loxosceles sp. spider, which is able to inflict a venomous bite, thereby, delivering a proteolytic enzyme into the victim at the bite site. The enzyme breaks down tissues, and in the spider’s world, enables the creature to more easily ingest its food. However, when bitten, the victim sustains great discomfort, and possible tissue loss.
