From the “Illustrated Manual for the Recognition and Diagnosis of Certain Animal Diseases”, published in 1982, by the Mexico-United States Commission for the Prevention of Foot and Mouth Disease, taken during a bovine necropsy, this photograph of a sagittal view of the trachea (windpipe), revealed the presence of petechial hemorrhages scattered throughout the tracheal’s mucosal lining. This cow was suffering from infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR).
