Caption:
This image depicts two signs that had been posted in a New Mexico plague epizootic area, warning travelers and residents as to the presence of plague infected animals, and the possibility that contact made with these infected animals could make one sick with plague. These signs had been posted by the Environmental Improvement Agency, Community Services Division, Vector-Control Program. When areas are remote from human habitation, where very limited human contact occurs, the most appropriate action may be to post signs on the roads entering the epizootic area to warn people, and provide information on personal protection and plague prevention.
