This photograph depicts the lower legs of a patient, which exhibited dermatologic symptoms as a result of pellagra and scurvy. Both conditions were due to a niacin, or vitamin B3, and ascorbic acid, or vitamin C, deficiencies respectively. Note the cracked, dry skin, and mottled pigmentation due to these nutrient deficiencies.
