This laboratorian was in the process of conducting biochemical tests upon foods suspected of being contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, the bacterium responsible for causing botulism. Here, the technician was extracting a small amount of material from a glass vial, which was about to be tested for the presence of Clostridium botulinum, and botulinum toxin.
