This diagram illustrates the cyclical method that the arboviral California serogroup viruses (CALV) adopt in order to replicate, using predominantly, the Aedes spp. mosquitoes to transmit the viruses to small woodland vertebrates, in order to amplify the viral populations prior to infecting human beings through the bite of a virus-carrying Aedes sp. mosquito.
