This patient was photographed in a clinical setting, and was undergoing an allergen sensitivity test in order to determine to which allergens this person was sensitive. The skin on the back was inoculated with various allergens, and those allergens to which this patient was sensitive, developed a wheal of inflammation surrounding those sites of inoculation. Those allergens to which this patient was not sensitive, developed no inflammatory response at the inoculation site. An example of a positive reaction was produced by the spider and moth allergens. While an example of a negative reaction was produced by the house dust allergen.
