The patient depicted here, had presented in a clinical setting with a swelling to her anterior neck region, which was diagnosed as a Grade-II goiter, that was caused by the patient’s dietary iodine deficiency. Goiter is an enlargement of the thyroid gland due to a deficiency in the body’s iodine levels, thereby, taxing the ability of this gland to produce its hormone, thyroxine. Increasing the level of iodine will easily correct this problem.
