Caption:
Under a magnification of 475X, this photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural features displayed by a Verticillium sp. fungus. Highlighted here, was a single, septate conidiophore from which sprouted whorls of pointed phialides. At the tips of the phialides were solitary, or clusters of conidia, or spores. In this particular case, most of the conidia were missing, and measured between 2-13µm in length, some of which were dispersed throughout the microenvironment.
