This is one in a series of twenty-four images (PHIL 16125 - 16148) captured at a memorial ceremony exhibit entitled, “Honoring Dr. Stephen B. Thacker”. Created by CDC artist and designer, Ed Biel, this caricature depicted a number of key public health professionals, who along with Dr. Thacker, were involved in the epidemiologic investigation surrounding the Legionnaire’s disease outbreak of 1976. The Bellevue-Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is the central figure of this drawing. Surrounding the hotel, beginning in the upper right, is Dr. Philip Brachman, followed by Dr. Philip Graitcer, two unknown EIS officers, Dr. Thacker questioning a patient, Dr. David Fraser, Dr. Sharra, Dr.s Joseph McDade and Charles Shepard, and atop the hotel, George Mallison.
