This is one in a series of twenty-four images (PHIL 16125 - 16148) captured at a memorial ceremony exhibit entitled, “Honoring Dr. Stephen B. Thacker”. Dr. Thacker reportedly received this bottle of Watneys Beer, while he was a student at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where in 1984, he completed his master of science degree, and was heard complaining about their two hour lunches. Interestingly, in a description he submitted of the EIS Class of 1976’s class gift, Dr. Thacker mentioned Watney’s Ale saying, “Dr. Brachman was also given a necklace made of Watney’s Ale mini barrels from the John Snow pub in London, recognition of our appreciation of the field of epidemiology.” The series was compiled March 2013. The CDC Public Health Library and Information Center hosted this exhibit, which remained on display from early February, through the EIS Conference in late April of 2013.
