Caption:
This intraoral view of a patient’s mouth reveals the presence of lightly colored, ovoid lesions on the mucosal lining of the anterior hard palate, diagnosed as smoker’s palate. Commonly seen in the case of cigarette, cigar, or pipe smokers, the mucosal changes are due to the irritating influence that heat and smoke exert upon the palatal area, and usually is not precancerous, unless the smoker uses a reverse smoking method, whereupon, the burning end of the cigarette is contained within the oral cavity while smoking.
