This 1974 image depicted a water buffalo, or domestic Asian water buffalo, Bubalus bubalis, as it was wallowing in a muddy pool somewhere in Northern India, when it was photographed by a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) staff member, while on a trip to the region in search of wild primates to be studied.
