Caption:
Under a magnification of 475X, this photomicrograph revealed numerous artifactual findings resembling dermatophytes, responsible for causing the cutaneous infection known as ringworm. These were not ringworm fungi, and this is why a diagnostician must be very well aware of these misleading aberrant variants, for such contaminants can be mistaken for organisms that really are not present at all.
