Caption:
This anteroposterior (AP) chest x-ray revealed radiographic evidence of a condition known as pericarditis, consisting of an enlargement of what is referred to as the cardiac silhouette, or the outline of the heart, and its surrounding pericardial sac. This turned out to be a case of purulent pericarditis, whereupon, the enlargement of the pericardial sac was caused by pus, and fluid accumulation within the sac, due to the infection around the heart.
