This image from 1974, depicted a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) physician, performing an examination upon a workman in a NIOSH laboratory. At this point in the exam, the doctor was observing the patient’s hand movements, symmetry, and checking for any neurologic deficits. Also note the presence of pigmentary abnormalities of the patient’s hands, as well.
