Under a magnification of 50X, this photomicrograph reveals histopathologic details found in a cross-section of a coronary artery in the case of an individual with the hereditary metabolic disorder known as Hurler’s syndrome, or mucopolysaccharidosis type I (MPS I). Of note, is the presence of numerous, large, clear cells known as Hurler cells in the vessel wall, and an accompanying reduction in luminal diameter.
