This image depicts a cutaneous lesion on a patient’s arm known as ringworm, which had been caused by the dermatophytic fungal organism, Trichophyton verrucosum. Note the erythematous, scaly appearance of the skin overlying the lesion, characteristic of a dermatophytosis.
