This image depicts a close view of the skin of a chinchilla that exhibited a cutaneous lesion, the features of which included hair loss, scaly skin, and erythema, or inflammation. Diagnosed as a case of ringworm, the lesion had been the result of a feline fungal infection, caused by the dermatophytic organism, Trichophyton mentagrophytes.
