Captured in Liberia during the country’s 2014, Ebola outbreak, this image depicts a stack of red and blue plastic buckets, which were to be used to contain an antiseptic handwashing solution. In a response to control the epidemic spread of Ebola virus, the sale of these plastic buckets began booming after the government declared mandatory handwashing in all public places, including government buildings, shops, restaurants, and hotels. The Ebola outbreak, not only affected northern Liberia, but Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Nigeria as well.
